As the year draws to a close, we reflect many individuals and organizations who continue to support our mission – lighting the way with unwavering support and guidance.
And that is what we do. For more than 4,000 patients cared for this year, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care is a source of light, comfort, and care. I am honored that so many families invite us into their lives.
As the largest nonprofit hospice in Illinois, we need your help to continue our mission. In addition to supporting our hospice and palliative care work for adults and children, our grief support services, our child life specialists, and our integrative therapy program, we are celebrating the 20th year of our hospice inpatient unit in Joliet.
We’ve continued to live by our “say yes” philosophy, removing barriers and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation, receives the care they deserve. This commitment to providing comprehensive care has allowed us to support thousands of individuals. As part of this continued commitment, our focus this year is to raise funds for our Room and Board Fund which will help bridge the gap both financially and emotionally to support those families who qualify in their time of greatest need when utilizing our inpatient unit.
Because of you, we can say yes. Your support of the room and board fund makes a tremendous impact on the lives of our community. Some key examples:
- Your investment in Lightways means we can continue to admit uninsured and underinsured families in need of inpatient care.
- Your generosity means we can provide financial assistance to patients who need to stay in the inpatient unit an additional two to three weeks.
- Families have an option to provide their loved one quality end-of-life care in a safe and compassionate setting that feels like home with no limitations on visitors when insurance may not cover the stay.
